Ashes57 at Donuts

We went to an exhibition by a lovely lady called Delphine aka Ashes57 on the weekend at Donuts. Ashes57 is a photographer and graphic designer and showed a mix of both works at the shop. My favourites where her chaotic, jazzy illustrated scenescapes. I stupidly forgot my camera so have no photos of the work at the show but here's some of my favourites from her website which you can buy. I love the fact she uses bees alot in her work as I love bees! I think the exhibition is up for a while so check it out...

JAPAN

A massive earthquake of 8.9 magnitude hit the Pacific Ocean, near Northeastern Japan on Friday, 11th of March, 2011. The earthquake triggered a massive tsunami which reached 10km inland, carrying houses, buildings, boats and cars with it. Additionally, a state of emergency has been declared at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, where scientists and technicians are struggling to prevent a nuclear disaster. Thousands have been declared dead and thousands are left with no electricity and fresh water.

This is one of the most saddening events I have seen in my life. Click the link below to donate to The British Red Cross, it takes about 5 minutes.

Biggie Smalls RIP | Uno One Tee

The Biggie x Uno One T shirt I blogged about has been released today to commemorate Christopher Wallace aka Biggie Smalls on the 14th anniversary of his death.

The tees are available from Christian at enquiries@unooneprint.com and available from Donuts from Friday. I am getting a free one as I babysat his daughter last night! (Christian's not Biggie's).

Danielle Scutt for Topshop

This collection is so amazing! Scutt launched the line with Topshop at London Fashion Week last month and it's inspired by the current economic crisis. Scutt says of the collection: 'In times of economic crisis, the two luxury items which flourish in the women's sector are lipstick and jewellery, with that in mind, the collection plays with themes of luxury, feminism and surrealism.'

She also cites influences for the collection as Prévost's Manon Lescaut, Ray Petri's "buffalo" style, Frida Kahlo's feminist imagery and art collector Peggy Guggenheim - who used to ask her favourite sculptors to make miniatures of their work so she could wear as jewellery. It reminds me of high octane 90s glamour - love love love! The range will be available online from April 1st.

My friend Christian from Uno One Print emailed me this photo today of a Biggie T shirt he's making. This is my favourite photo of Biggie and Christian drew it himself. I've already ordered mine!
